About me
I am currently training in Core Process Psychotherapy at the Karuna Institute. I previously qualified in Mindfulness-based Approaches at Bangor University, where I trained to teach 8-week MBCT and MBSR courses.
Mindfulness has been a valuable practice for me since my early twenties, supporting me through an immeasurable number of life challenges, from the seemingly small yet difficult moments of everyday life to its more significant turning points.
Through my own experience of counselling and therapy, I came to recognise a longing to be met at a deeper level. I later understood this to be related to mindfulness; the experience of being met with presence and attunement to what lies beyond the story.
My personal experience of working with a Core Process Psychotherapist, alongside my training at the Karuna Institute, has deepened my appreciation of this way of working. With mindfulness central to this approach, there is space not only to explore difficulties, but also to develop a deeper relationship with ourselves and our experience.
My approach is rooted in mindfulness, bringing qualities of presence, non-judgement, curiosity, patience and acceptance to the therapeutic relationship. I aim to offer a space where all layers of experience can be met with openness and compassion, allowing things to unfold in their own time.
Our experience of being human is complex and layered, shaped by the many experiences and circumstances of our lives. You may be struggling with the uncertainty and distress of the wider world, significant personal life events, or a more difficult-to-name sense of dissatisfaction, disconnection or unease.
I offer a space where you can come as you are, bringing whatever feels present for you. Together, we can gently explore your experience, including those parts that may be difficult to put into words, with care, curiosity and compassion.
At the heart of this approach is a trust in the innate health and wisdom that lie within each of us, however distant or obscured they may feel. Our work together offers a space to gently reconnect with these qualities beneath the layers of our experience, at a pace that feels safe for you.
